Beating the Heat in Bali

Home  /   Blog  /   Beating the Heat in Bali

Bali enjoys warm temperatures year round, which can be a welcome retreat for those from colder climes. But the heat and humidity can also be a shock to the system.
So, let us help you discover some fun ways to beat the heat in Bali that don’t include air-conditioned hotel rooms!

If you’re planning a trip to Bali soon, or just dreaming about the island, read on for ways to stay cool in the Bali weather while making the most of the island.

Dip in the blue

clear water bali - beat the heat in baliThe waters surrounding beautiful Bali are wonderfully clear and bursting with life. Grab a snorkel and head out for a swim with the fishes. Better yet, take a boat out to the nearby islands, like Nusa Lembongan or Menjangan Island, and enjoy the wind in your hair on the way to the best snorkelling spots in Bali.

Bali is also a fantastic place to learn to dive and enjoy the cooler waters of the deep. But, if you are not keen on regulators and flippers, you could try the unique marine walking experience.

Hit the surf

surfing bali - beat the heat in baliMost of Bali’s beaches are surf beaches rather than calm water tides, so there is no better place to pick up a surfboard and learn from Bali’s surf masters. Padang Padang beach and Medewi beach are firm favourites but there are plenty of other hidden gems to choose from.

Whether snorkelling or surfing, make sure to lather on the waterproof sun cream to avoid those harmful UVs! A rash vest is also a good option if you are planning on sticking to the sea for a while.

Make a splash at Waterbom

One of the best water parks in the world (as voted on Tripadvisor) can be found in the centre of Bali’s main commercial hub of Kuta. The self-proclaimed ‘one-stop leisure capital of Bali’, Waterbom has all you could want from a watery theme park. Daring rides and lazy rivers, fantastic dining areas and plenty of shaded spots to lounge with a drink in hand, Bali’s top attraction has something for everyone.

Following our recent article about Bali’s fresh water crisis, you may be concerned about the ethics of visiting a water park on the island. But fear not as Waterbom are also partnered with IDEP and recycle an incredible 3,600m3 of water every day.

Start your day at sunset

tanah lot sunset tour - beat the heat in baliAs one of the most culturally rich and unique islands in Asia, you’ll want to visit Bali’s historical and cultural sites and learn about local island life. Rather than traipse through humid jungles or busy temples in the heat of the day, why not take one of Bali’s many sunset tours. We offer two sunset tours that pay visits to sea view temples to catch that wonderful evening ocean breeze.

On a tour of Tanah Lot, enjoy a drink overlooking the temple at ‘Sunset Corner’ or take the Uluwatu tour to also see the incredible Kecak Fire Dance performance.

Catch sunrise on Mt Batur

Bali fresh waterWith an elevation of 1,717m above sea level, Mt Batur is a great place to escape the hot Bali weather. With the stars and torches lighting your way, start your trek up Mount Batur to reach the summit before the sun has even risen. If the weather is clear you will have breathtaking views of Mount Agung against the rising sun and you can cook your breakfast using the heat of the volcano!
